Forbidden City
故宫博物院
Hall of Supreme Harmony 太和殿

There are a pair of cranes on the terrace in front of the Hall of Supreme Harmony 太和殿 (Tàihé Diàn). When cranes are shown in a pair they are a stronger symbol of longevity. The black crane is the longest lived, over 600 years. A pair of black cranes implies immortality. Cranes can also mean determination, wealth, and power if they are depicted among a stand of pines.
