Forbidden City
故宫博物院

On the north side of the Hall of Supreme Harmony 太和殿 (Tàihé Diàn) you can see all the way back to the Houyoumen, the back west gate and watch tower. The three halls of the Outer Court stand on a raised platform surrounded by courtyards at the lower level and a wall full of rooms and gates that served as offices and storage for all of the things that are necessary for an establishment of this size. Guard stations were peppered throughout.
