Forbidden City
故宫博物院
Hall of Central Harmony 中和殿

A wider view from the terrace of the Hall of Central Harmony shows parts of the western section of the Forbidden City and the White Stupa that stands atop the mountain on Qionghua Island in Beihai Park 北海公园 (Běihǎi Gōngyuán) to the northwest. I have included quite a few views from the terraces since part of the plan of the Forbidden City was to create such views. Chinese gardens and architecture always included the far view as well as the near view. So far, the Beijing government has maintained the zoning that prevents the building of tall modern buildings that would obstruct and destroy those views.
