Tile End with Four Tigers
四虎构半瓦当
Pottery from the State of Yan in the Warring States Period 战国燕

The tiger holds a similar place in Chinese mythology as the lion does in Western mythology. The tiger is most powerful and is seen as a majestic creature. This tile end dates to the Warring States period and was found in the area of the Yan State, in what is now modern Beijing and Hebei province.
