Large Double Ear Pot with Red and Black Whirlpool Design
The Painted Pottery of the Banshan Culture 半山文化彩陶

This pot is an excellent example of the relationship between the Banshan Culture and the earlier Majiashao culture. The first pot shown in the section on Majiashao culture (respeated below for your convenience) has a similar design. The addition of red highlights, the stronger expression of the whirlpool design, and the surrounding patterns all declare the designs as member of the same family but with a twist.
