Pottery Designs from the State of Yan in the Warring States Period 战国燕

We now return to the State of Yan during the Warring States period. The large pot above is called a lei and it has quite sophisticated decoration in five bands around its circumference. The designs include abstract patterns and those which stand for clouds, water, and the sun. Animals run and fly around the pat in other bands. Below, there is a detail of the running tiger band.
