Beijing Zoo 北京动物园
Olympic Pandas

Various experiments are being conducted in the wildlife preserves in China to increase the wild panda population. Because giant pandas are solitary and the female is in estrus for just a few days each year, the probability of having a male on hand is low. When the giant panda population was higher and denser, it wasn't as difficult to find a mate. One of the things they are trying is to rear young pandas together to see if they will form a more closely knit group and thus breed more often. It will be years before the results will be released.
