Neolithic Era
Pottery Wine Vessel
陶盉    酒器

This pottery he (he is pronounced with a short "e", like the "e" in "the") is a wine vessel. It was excavated from a site at Jiangzhai, Lintong and dates to between 2100 BC and 2900 BC. Notice the well shaped pouring spout that allows liquids to be aimed into a much smaller container while maintaining a large opening at the top. Easily filled and convenient to serve from, the pitcher design is still used today.
