| This yuan is part of a chariot. It is made of bronze and dates to the middle of the Western Zhou Dynasty (947 - 858 BC). It is decorated with the head of a slave, a common motif for functional parts. Slavery was widely practiced during the Zhou Dynasty as it was during the Shang. It was excavated from a site in Rujiazhuang, Baoji City. |
