Spring and Autumn Period
Bronze Chime Bells
铜编钟   乐器

These bronze chime bells were excavated from the Wei River in Xianyang. They date to the Spring and Autumn Period (770 - 475 BC). They are part of a set of graduated bells made in different sizes to play the musical scale when struck. Different batons or strikers would be used to create different sounds depending on the music piece being played.
