Mirror with Intertwined Hornless Dragon Design
蟠螭纹镜

This mirror is devoted to a mythical hornless dragon, or moutain demon. A Chi is by one account a young dragon which has not yet grown horns. It is considered to be a variant of Chi, a mountain demon. The homonyms have different characters and over time have melded their stories. The mirror dates to the Warring States Period of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (475 - 221 BC).
