Warring States Period
Stone Weight

Stone and bronze weights were used to standardize exchange and were used by the government tax collectors to make sure that the proper weight of grain or salt was paid in taxes. This weight dates from the Warring States Period of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty (475 - 221 BC). It was excavated in 1964 from a site in Gaoyao Village, Sanqiao, Xi'an.
