| The pottery figure of a man holding a shield shown above was made as a funerary object. It is probably a servant waiting to give the shield to his master, considering the way in which he is carrying the shield. The figure dates to the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - 25 AD). It was found at a dig in Tangjia Village, Xi'an. |
