Western Wei Period
Pottery Musicians on Horseback - Funerary Objects
骑马吹奏俑   随葬品

Also found at Xianyang, these mounted riders are playing music. They are holding their instruments in positions of play, rather than just carrying them. Music was an important part of both life and death rituals, so would be an important inclusion for the next stage of life. These burial objects were made during the Western Wei Period (535 AD to about 556 AD).
