Misty Blue Elephant Zun
影青象座尊

A zun sitting on an elephant in misty blue enamel was excavated from a site in Hanzhong City. It dates to the Song Dynasty (960 - 1279). A zun generally has a wide opening, a flat rather than legged bottom, and may be made to look like an animal such as a rhinoceros, a sacrificial animal, or mythical animals. In this case, the zun is placed on the elephant's back.
