Ming Dynasty
Account Book
万字丈量正册 账簿

This book dates to 1581, the ninth year of the reign of Emperor Wanli. The book itself is an account book used to record land measures. The amount of land owned translated to taxes, even in those days. Very careful accounts were kept, both locally and in the capital. Notice that the pages are loose. They were kept in book boxes. The ink and paper are both fresh and legible.
