Square Ding with Ogre Mask Design

This Ding has four legs. They commonly have three legs, but four legged examples have been found back to ancient China. When it has four legs it is called a fangding 方鼎, "square ding". This example was made during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1664) and was excavated in Suide County. There is another view on the previous page.
