Ming Dynasty
Tri-colored Statue of Skt. Avalokitsava - Guanyin

This statue of Guanyin was made during the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1664). Many Chinese depictions of Guanyin have strong Indian influence. This statue is mid-way between a Chinese and Indian Buddhist depiction. Notice the enlarged ear lobes of Indian influence. The lips and features are the finer Chinese features, but the shape of the face maintains the classic Buddha shape.
